Challenge Day Wednesday and Thursday

My family group all day Wednesday was Daxavier, Jamie, Kayleigh, Ryan, and Tyler! My small group all day Thursday was Ben, Chelsea, Hector, Heather, and Alejandra pictured in second picture. Amazing students!
Fun games helped break up the intense emotional exercises. It was a 61/2 hour workshop that was just absolutely life changing!

Kate from Oakland, CA was an amazing speaker and teacher! So much fun!

Challenge Day Comes to Mandarin High School

This is Challenge Day on Tuesday: 100 students, 20 adult teachers and volunteers, Kate and Shawn from CA. Time to stop being fake and start getting REAL. To find out what Challenge Day is go to http://www.challengeday.org/. Or check it out on MTV on a show called "If you really knew me" I was able to participate three days this week. A lot of tears, boxes of tissues, tons of hugs, and lots of love and support! Students shared what's really going on in their lives from their past, their present, and even their future dreams. I was really impressed with how vulnerable and honest they were.
Fun games helped break up the intense emotions that were coming to the surface. It was a great release to scream, shout, yell, dance, and laugh with one another!

Cross the Line if....is an exercise to see what we have in common and to assure each other that we are not alone. Divorce, drug addiction, suicide attempts, lonliness, abuse, homelessness, etc.
My small group family for Tuesday was Luke, Larry, Jasmine, and Erin! Sweet kids!
