Sucessful Turkey Bowl Outreaches

Bowling a frozen turkey in classroom? YES! Our first outreach at Mandarin High School brought 26 new students to come check out the Christian Club for the Turkey Bowl!
Jeffrey, pictured above, was on one of four teams to compete. The Orange team won!

The biggest winner was Jessica, pictured above first girl on left, who indicated she prayed to receive Christ at the event. Here friends, Joy and Miranda, were so excited after and said they were taking her to church with them on Sunday! Way to go girls!

Louis a junior football player got the games going and showed us how it's done!

Josh bowled at the Bartram/Creekside HS outreach on Thursday night at Tansey's backyard where 70 students came and 14 prayed to receive Christ for the first time!

November Student Venture

Students from Bartram Trails and Creekside HS came to our weekly SV meeting last week to learn about how to share their faith with others. Going over the Gospel reminded me of how I came to Christ almost 17 years ago! Because of Karen sharing that little booklet with me on campus at UCF during my senior year, the Lord opened my eyes and heart to receive the free Gift of grace He offers to those who believe in His Son Jesus Christ.
Karen continued to disciple me for months after and even became my roommate in 1997 when I reported to staff and worked with SV at Cypress Creek HS in Kissimmee. She then moved to Paris for five years to reach people for Christ. On November 1,2009 I was able to see Karen on her wedding day marry her best friend, Tim Crebbs. It was a beautiful answer to many years of prayer!

A Night with the Jaguars NFL Football Team

These young men are dedicated to serving God and glorifying God with thier gifts. They know the Lord has blessed them with this position and they want to give thanks to what the Lord has done in their lives by sharing with others. Several times they made the point that playing football is what they do, but not who they are. I was so impressed with their heart to be apart of the Great Commission and know that their time with the NFL is limited. Ernest Wilford #85 pictured above and Rich Bartel #4 below.

Monday, October 19th, Athletes in Action hosted an outreach where a few members of the Jaguar football team shared their testimonies and answered audience questions. Rich Bartel #4 shared his powerful and tearful testimony. Then Mo Williams #74 below shared the Gospel and several people of all ages raised thier hands indicating they wanted to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.

The players gave away door prizes and signed autographs for the children. Pictured here is Mo talking to Rich, and Derek cox #21 smiling at a fan. He's single and when asked about the kind of woman he is looking for, he said, "A woman chasing God's heart." Sweet.

Christine went with me and was the first to win an autographed cap from the team. She had to leave early but I went up to receive it for her. Mo Williams handed it to me and shook my hand. It was pretty sweet. I was so happy she won something!
Now that I live in Jacksonville and heard their storeis, I am truly a fan of the Jags and will pray for these players! It would be awesome to have some of them come speak to our Student Venture students to help reach more high school students.

Bartrum Trails HS JV Football Outreach

We have a new brother in the Chrisitan family! Matt, a freshman at Bartrum Trails High School, accepted Jesus Christ into his heart on Wednesday, October 14 after hearing the Gospel and a student testimony.

We had 9 drivers available to help transport the football team after practice to a students home where we offered pizza and drinks for the whole team. 12 students were able to come, many of them were sophomores who accepted Christ at last years outreach.
One sophomore boy fasted for two days for his friends to respond to the grace and love God offers everyone who believes in His Son, Jesus Christ. We rejoice over this one soul who crossed over from darkness into light! God provided more volunteer workers than ever before for this outreach event just to reach Matt! He must REALLY love him! Can't wait to see Matt's faith take off as the JV Football team continues to meet for followup Bible studies every Monday night starting October 26.

Mandarin High School Christian Club

Please pray for the Christian Club at Mandarin High School
and watch what God does in Jacksonville!
After See You at the Pole on September 16, a group of students at Mandarin High School wanted to start their own Christian Club on campus. I was invited to help facilitate this group of 17 students who meet at 1:45-2:30pm every Tuesday. At first a teacher was leading it, but after I met with her and explained SV and what we can offer, she was more than willing to give me access to address the kids and be the adult sponsor. I have met with the students twice so far and they are prayerfully seeking God about the direction He is leading them.

Here is the list of what they want their Christian Club to accomplish: Reach out, Share Christ with friends, Encouraging fellowship, Show Love, Help the needy, and Build a safe community of believers.

This was a great start and really touched my heart that they were right on track with what Student Venture wants to equip them to do! Please pray for these students as they lead this student led club on campus: Chelsey, Dominic, Jordan, Brandy, Amber, Ashley, and Christa. These students are already strong in their faith and are full of potential! I am anticipating great things are going to happen for the Glory of God and lives are going to be transformed by the power of Jesus Christ! Thank you for joining with me to be apart of where God is already at work! I couldn’t do this without you!

See You At The Pole at Mandarin High School

Mandarin High School "SYATP" Event
This morning at 7pm about 100 students gathered together to pray for the world, our country, their campus, their friends, and families. It is such a powerful demonstration to see them taking a stand and praying together in unity. Student Venture wants to come along side these young adults and offer support and resources to help them reach their campus for Christ! Our goal is to Win them to Christ, Build them up in their Faith, and Send them out to reach others for Christ. We prayed for students who do not have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ to start asking questions among their peers today because of what they saw this morning.

JV Football at Creekside
Another cool ministry thing that happened today was the JV Football Team Talk at Creekside High School. We served watermelon to the whole football team after practice today while Ken Vensel, the director of SV, gave a motivational talk on being a Champion.

Katelyn asked Jesus into her Heart on 9-11-09

On Friday, September 11th, I met a 22 year old on the beach named Katelyn who just moved to JAX one month ago! She approached me reading a book ("Connecting" by Larry Crabb) and I thought she was going to evangelize to ME!! She was just so cute and tiny, I couldn't believe she was stopping to talk with me. We discussed books for a bit and then I found out she was waitressing at Logans, just graduated from college in Maryland, and lives with her mom for now. She is looking for a job as an interpretor for the deaf. As we got to know each other, I realized she was at the same crossroads of life that I was at age 22. My testimony tied in perfectly with exactly what she was going through. So, I gradually shared my testimony and the Gosepl with her. I found out she has a Catholic background and does pray often. She even prayed on her way to the beach that day. When I invited her to begin a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, she said, "Yes," and prayed to accept Christ right there on the beach! I even let her finish the prayer as she wanted and she prayed in her own words thanking God for what He was doing in her life. She gave me a hug and asked for my phone number. We exchanged numbers and will get together this week to continue our conversation! Please pray for our new sister in Christ, Katelyn!!

This experience reminded me that God is at work here and I’m at the right place at the right time.
I will also be training a new staff girl named, Christine, (pictured here) who just graduated from a Christian College in Atlanta, GA. She is temporarily living with us until she finds a roommate. I’m so grateful to have another co-laborer to work along side me! She is so much fun to have around that Steve and I are happy to have her here!
In just six weeks, God has raised 30% of my monthly need in order to do ministry full-time. I was able to purchase the supplies I will need for Bible studies, but I still need more partners to help me! If you are interested in joining my team, you can give online at http://give.ccci.org/give/View/0437644

Hello Ministry Partners!

In just three weeks, God has raised 25% of my monthly need. I am praying for more partners to help me report to my assignment full-time! Thanks to the funds that have come in, I was able to purchase the supplies I will need for Bible studies. I keep a “Ministry Kit” in my car at all times that is full of new Bibles and journals for the girls, pens, supplies for illustrations to my lessons, and of course the Bible study lessons.

School has started and I had the opportunity to teach and share my testimony at the Student Venture meeting already. I visited Bartrum Trail HS to meet students and faculty where I was blown away by this $62 million dollar facility!

Once my team is developed I will be going to Bartrum Trail and Creekside HS to give motivational talks to the cheerleaders, athletic teams, and student clubs. We invite them to come back to an outreach where I will present the Gospel. In the past, I typically saw at least 10% of the students who have not been to church, pray to receive Christ at that very first meeting! It is wonderful to witness God open the hearts and eyes of His children to receive His unconditional Love and Grace! From there, I will follow up with each student and invite them to get involved in a Bible Study to further their understanding in their new relationship with God. We also encourage them to attend a local church.

Steve and I found a great church we like very much called Christian Family Chapel. A student, named Hannah, shared a testimony about what God taught her when her mission trip to Haiti was cancelled. She realized that she had been preparing herself to reach the Haitian people for Christ over the past few weeks, but she was not reaching out to people right here in her own community. She decided to dedicate the next 10 days that she would have been in Haiti, to do ministry here in Jacksonville. So, Hannah and three of her friends went to the beach and shared the hope of the Gospel . They stepped out in faith and planted seeds with 12 individuals. Her faith has grown in those 10 days and she is ready to continue this life of surrender no matter where God sends her.

It’s students like Hannah that get me excited about the great potential of this next generation!
Thank you for making a difference by investing in Campus Crusade for Christ to help me impact the lives of young people both now and for eternity. Thanks for your continued prayers and support!
